i opened up my Gmail account to check my email on the way home last night, only to discover a letter reaching out for advice & to compliment me on having the strength to be so confident in who i am as a homosexual man.
i really cannot stress enough how important it is to find somebody or something (a friend, family member, therapist, dog, your pet fish, journal, a treadmill) to keep you in the positive & to turn to when you’re not 100% sure about where you personally stand in this world. growing up is not a comfortable or easy process, we’re all very well aware of that, and aging doesn’t mean everyone around you is at the same level you are. the more balance you maintain in your life, the better your mental health, the better your overall well-being and the more you learn.
if you need to reach out because of bullying or anything really, just talk to somebody.
but i will also advise, speak up for yourself too. fuck everyone else and just be you.
i cannot reiterate enough that being GAY or black or Muslim or having red hair (and so forth) is ONLY A PART OF YOU, NOT ALL OF YOU.
